Aiming for “Customer Satisfaction and Environmental Conservation” NSK Korea's Changwon Plant is proactive in its improvement initiatives, and was the NSK Group's first workplace to attain ISO14001 certification.
Environmentally Harmful Substances
The Changwon plant is moving to reduce several environmentally harmful substances.
The plant firstly removed all halon fire extinguishers in 2007. In 2009, the plant will work to reduce oils used in the production process that contain chlorinated additives. In addition, the plant will work to achieve certification from its customers' chemical substance control systems.
Global Warming Countermeasures
Ceremony and Agreement on emission of greenhouse gases
In line with Changwon City's declaration of becoming a “Green City”, NSK's Changwon plant has proactively reduced its emission of greenhouse gases, and joined an accord* devoted to protection of the environment.
In future, the plant aims to reduce its CO2 output per sales unit by 10% from fiscal 2007 levels.

Contributing to Local Communities
Cleaning areas around the plant
- 1. Workers at the plant regularly clean the area around the facilities, reducing rubbish and pollution.
- 2. The plant also provides scholarships to academically and morally outstanding students from local technical high schools (30 awards across 4 schools)
- 3. In 2008, the plant also made donations to 2 local orphanages and 2 facilities for the disabled.
