NSK Corporation's Liberty Plant commenced production in September 1996.
The plant, which is responsible for machinery processing and heat treatment of bearing components, is taking measures to minimize noise and environmental impact.
Waste Management and Recycling
The factory recycles not only metals, such as scrap from the manufacturing processes, but also plastics and cardboard boxes. In addition, chemicals used in the manufacturing process are purchased based on whether they are recyclable, as well as cost and performance. Furthermore, the plant is looking for ways to reduce landfill waste by switching materials or recycling.
Environmentally Harmful Substances
As part of measures to reduce environmentally harmful substances, the plant is switching to non-chlorinated oils that have a lower environmental impact.
It is also conducting environmental audits of suppliers with regards to chemical substances used to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and NSK Standards.
Global Warming Countermeasures
The Liberty plant is working to fight global warming by conserving energy. These efforts include preventing leaks in the pressurized air used in the production process, and saving power by shutting down facilities when there is little demand for production.
